Ha ha Richard, it does look like that doesn’t it? The wattle is compensation for paying a steep price and waiting in the crowds! (ie it’s for the crowds).
Yes Emma, this is at the “flower battle” at Nice carnival. The floats are decorated with flowers and the participants throw flowers out to the crowd to catch, hence the hands up to (photograph and) catch.

My first thought was Nice Lemon Festival but then I remembered you said you were going to Canival so I am guessing that is where these lovely ladies are.

Yes a bit mind boggling that photo. I just couldn’t get the perspective right in my head. Terrific shot.
Love those skirts! Looks like it was a beautiful day too 🙂
Love those skirts! #mysundayphoto
I do, plus I get photo information when I get your email notification 😉
No Fiona, ladies on a carnival float with hands from the crowd up to take photos and catch the flowers which get hurled out.
I initially thought about cropping the hands out and then realised their comedic value!
Thanks Lucy 🙂
It was good weather, though it changed dramatically and the last 2 days of carnival got cancelled due to rain. 🙁 We were lucky.
No not really, it’s carnival which is considered more of a winter festival, though our winter on the Côte d’Azur is more like most places’ spring.
a float going past the crowd at Nice carnival flower battle Catherine. The ladies chuck the mimosa out to the waiting hands.
Yes it’s a flower parade at Nice carnival.
The hands throw the perspective out, I think.

I thought the perspective was quite odd and with the hands in front you’re not too sure what size the ladies are. I’m glad you like it.

Yes it’s Nice carnival, and no they’re standing on a float, not stilts.
Yes it’s Nice carnival (I’m always surprised no one seems to look at the tags for a clue)!! :):)

Interesting, was this a carnival? Are they on slilts?
That looks like a gorgeous spring day! Would love to know what they are up to! Are they chucking Mimosa into the crowd?
That is a great image – the two ladies look like hand puppets! A clever capture 🙂 #MySundayPhoto
The poor ladies have had their legs chopped off. Are the bunches of wattle by way of compensation?
I thought the same thing as Tim! It took me a moment to realise that they weren’t being held up! Lovely photo, bright colours and big smiling faces.
How pretty, is it a parade of some sort?
Explanation please.
What a great splash of colour, was this to welcome in Spring?
Thank you for linking up
Looks like a wonderful parade – and good weather!
That is so beautiful! What a fabulous burst of colour!
Lovely shot – although it’s slightly amusing that at first glance the ladies appear to be being held up by giant hands!
Now that is a bit different, I’m studying them and trying to make it out, statue street lights?
