I have been to Nice but it was over 20 years ago and I was only there a day to meet up with friends before heading off again so I have to say I have very little memory of it. Aix certainly looks lovely though with that unrendered stone.
Yes you’re wrong Rosie, sorry! Nice buildings are mainly rendered either in rich reds and yellows in a very Italian style in the old town or classically white in the new town. This is Aix where most buildings are built of this lovely golden stone and left unrendered.
Is this handsome hotel particulier in Lyon? Or is it a bishop’s palace? It’s difficult to see, but the coat of arms over the gate seems to incorporate a cardinal’s hat.

Has a film like quality to it and looks like an interesting story to tell somehow
What a remarkable looking building
Thank you for linking up
Lovely. I only went to Aix in the 80s, and have never been back since I’ve lived in France, although I have been to Arles and Avignon several times.
It’s such a warm colour, don’t you think?
Yes it is serene I agree with you.
Yes it is pretty grand. Much of Aix en Provence is like this. It’s a gorgeous city.
Thanks!
I bet they do too Victoria, but I haven’t seen Aix by night. 🙁
It’s Aix Richard. It’s the entrance to the Decorative Arts Museum, housed in the old Archbishop’s Palace, so you were pretty close. Good eyes!
What a wonderful photo, the building looks wonderful!

What a grand looking building!
Lovely photo. Love the archway, tree and sunshine/shade combination.
I bet those lights look beautiful when it’s dark x

Hmmm – my knowledge of French towns is pretty poor so I’m going to guess Nice. I fear I may be wrong though.
Yes a lovely photo. Where is it?
Beautiful photo – love the lighting on the building and looks like it was a beautiful sunny day.
